Who we are
Wander is a city exploration app available at wandertravel.app. Wander helps travelers and locals discover nearby places — restaurants, cafés, bars, experiences, markets, and hidden gems — based on their mood, time available, and starting location.

What information we collect
We collect only what we need to make the app work well for you.
- Location data
- Your starting place or city, entered by you or detected with your permission. We use this to find nearby suggestions. We do not track your location continuously or in the background.
- In-app choices
- The categories you pick, your drill-down answers, your ratings, notes, and bookmarks. Stored to power your trip history and saved places (Wanderer subscribers only).
- Account information
- If you create an account, we collect your email address and a display name. Passwords are encrypted and never stored in plain text.
- Usage data
- Which cities you explore, which categories you use, how many adventures you complete. Used in aggregate to improve the app. Never sold.
- Device information
- Basic device type, operating system, and browser type. Used for technical support and app improvement only.
- Payment information
- Payments are processed by Stripe and Paddle. We never see or store your full card details.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Power the core app
- Generate nearby suggestions, walking directions, and tailored recommendations.
- Remember your trips
- Save your visited places, ratings, notes, and bookmarks to your account.
- Improve the product
- Understand which features work and which don't, in aggregate.
- Communicate with you
- Send account, billing, and important service emails. We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
- Keep things secure
- Detect abuse, fraud, and protect the integrity of the service.
Third parties we use
Wander uses a small number of trusted third parties to make the app work. Each is bound by their own privacy policy.
- Google Maps Platform
- Geocoding, Places search, and directions.
- Google Gemini
- Generating taglines, insider tips, and booking guidance.
- Supabase
- Account storage, authentication, and trip history.
- Stripe & Paddle
- Subscription billing and payments.
- Affiliate booking partners
- We may earn a commission when you book through partner links. This never influences which places we suggest.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data.
- Ever. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We don't track you across the web.
- No third-party advertising trackers, no cross-site profiling.
- We don't read your messages or contacts.
- Wander has no access to anything outside the app.
- We don't let affiliate partners influence suggestions.
- Recommendations are based on relevance, not commission.
Cookies and storage
Wander uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (language, last city). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Data retention
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain billing records by law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), you have the right to:
- Access
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct
- Ask us to fix anything that's wrong.
- Delete
- Ask us to delete your account and personal data.
- Export
- Get your trip history in a portable format.
- Object
- Opt out of any non-essential data processing.

Security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Passwords are hashed. Payment data never touches our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your data.
Children
Wander is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email.
